The I.A.A. is born!
It's so exciting to be the first person to blog on our brand new Irish Animation Awards website. It's been a very busy few weeks getting everything pulled together, but we have a great committee in place and everyone has been working hard to get it all up and running. The Animation Ireland board wanted to establish an event that marked the phenomenal animation talent we have in Ireland. We produce outstanding quality animation in programming/games/VFX and it's time that we recognised these achievements. Hence the Irish Animation Awards were born. We then set about looking for what would be a great venue for the awards and after much researching we concluded that the Dingle Film Festival would be the perfect home for us.
This amazing evening which will celebrate the best of Irish talent (reaching out internationally too for the categories of Best Animated International Short Film and Best International Student Film). We're calling on all animation companies, VFX companies, gaming and apps companies who have engaged the best of Irish animation as part of their productions to come forward and enter. There are 14 categories to choose from – covering everything from writing to directing, sound design to art direction, and animation in apps and gaming to animation in VFX. Check out the categories section for the full listing plus entry criteria.
This is our inaugural I.A.A. @ Dingle. We are planning an amazing evening and we want to acknowledge your work and the creators of that work – so send in your entries! We've made the process as painless as possible but if you've any questions please just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.So get entering!
And lastly may we wish you and your families a wonderful and peaceful Christmas and here's to an outstanding 2015 for us all.− by Méabh Tammemägi, first ever I.A.A. Committee member blogger and Producer @ Mooshku
